Disability is the main category of need for six percent of children entering care, as well as a significant factor contributing to care entry for many more. In common with most looked after children, disabled children enter care with a wide range of health inequalities and losses, but are often further disadvantaged not only by their particular impairment but by how society views disabled individuals and often fails to accommodate their needs.
