'This is such a warm, caring, understanding book - real-life Tylers should find it immensely reassuring!'
Jacqueline Wilson, children's book author

Tyler's Wishes is a companion volume to the earlier Tia's Wishes, which has been warmly received by social workers preparing children for adoption who have found it: 'a really useful book to encourage children to talk about what they want from adoption, even those children who are shy or reluctant to talk. It's a very clever story' (Sam Cleevely, Gloucestershire Social Services).

This new story features a seven-year-old boy and things that boys (and sometimes girls!) are most interested in, including football matches, PlayStations, bikes, clothes and pets. Tyler's Wishes will encourage children, particularly boys, to express their fantasies about their ideal forever family and encourage them to make their own wish list. Suitable for the same age range as Tia (four to ten), this story follows similar lines, talking first about material wishes and then moving on to what might actually happen, to help the child facing adoption come to terms with reality. The book comes with short guidelines to help adoption workers to get the most out of the story.

A fun selection of appealing items, similar to the Tia package but more geared to boys, also comes with the book. These include a magic wand, small "scared bear", stickers, glitter glue and a football pencil and eraser. This is all packaged in a box entitled 'My Wishes for My New Family' with space for a child to write their own name.

BAAF is again grateful to the Stanley Smith Charitable Trust for helping to make available the 'extras' which come with this book.
