The Adoption and Children Act 2000 recognises for the first time the needs of birth relatives who want to let their adult adopted relative know of their interest for contact. The changes to the law mean that everyone will now be able to access a service, regardless of where they live.

The first directory of its kind, this book provides information on every local authority, voluntary adoption agency, adoption support agency and independent adoption support agency in England and Wales, the services they provide and how to contact them.

It also includes more information about the recent changes in legislation and the service people should expect to receive, along with useful resources and a reading list. This is an invaluable resource for adoption support workers, birth relatives, counsellors and adopted people.
