Adoption: some questions answered (2007)

Describes the adoption process and includes information on the difference between adoption and fostering, finding a child to adopt, adopting children from abroad, matching children to adoptive parents, legalising the adoption, the rights of birth parents, maintaining contact, telling the children, and much more.

Aimed at people considering adopting or fostering a child with 'special needs', this leaflet offers a basic introduction to some of the points that need to be considered. It also includes examples of the sorts of children who need new families and how they can be helped.

Private fostering England and Wales (2008)

This Advice Note is written for people considering becoming private foster carers, and provides guidance on what prospective carers need to know and do. The 2008 edition has been completely rewritten and expanded, and contains sections on the responsibilities of private foster carers, birth parents, and social services in such arrangements.
