BAAF welcomes beginning of independent assessment process

Following the Prime Minister’s statement today, Barbara Hutchinson, Executive Director of the British Association for Adoption & Fostering (BAAF), said:

“I am delighted to have been asked to chair this ongoing assessment process. I look forward to working closely with the appointed team – and with the faith-based adoption and fostering agencies concerned – to consider the issues and make any necessary recommendations.”

“The Government has been clear that the Sexual Orientation Regulations must be fully implemented whilst making sure valuable services are retained. This is a complex and sensitive area and I am pleased that the Government has appointed an independent team of experts to carry out this work. This must be in the best interests of children and families.”
