BAAF announces new Chief Executive
Issued: 08 February 2006
This press release applies to the UK
BAAF has appointed a new Chief Executive to lead the charity from May this year.
David Holmes is a solicitor by profession but has worked in health and social care for more than 10 years. Many of his roles have been in children's services, including the management of the Child Protection, Adoption and Looked After Children teams within central government. He is currently Deputy Director (delivery and performance) of the Children's Service in Haringey. He replaces current Chief Executive Felicity Collier, who has been at the helm of BAAF for 10 years.
David Holmes says: "I am delighted to have been appointed as BAAF's new Chief Executive at a time of great change and new opportunities within children's services. BAAF does vital work across the UK for vulnerable groups of children and young people. With the support of BAAF's very able staff, I will continue to champion the interests of our most vulnerable children and young people in my new role."
Anthony Douglas, BAAF Chair, says: "The next 5 years for child care services, and for BAAF, are just as crucial as the last 5, especially with the world of children's services changing so rapidly. I am confident David has the right balance and range of skills to build on Felicity Collier's strong achievements and continue BAAF's impressive year on year growth in both scale and influence. David will be great leader to take forward BAAF's many partnerships."
Felicity Collier says: "While I am sad to leave BAAF after so many years, I am personally thrilled about David's appointment - he was my key contact at the DfES for three years and is very well respected in the child care sector. He always recognised the importance of BAAF's work, and displayed a willingness to listen and to learn what is important to children.
Barbara Hutchinson, BAAF Deputy Chief Executive, says: "We shall greatly miss Felicity, but are confident that David's strong commitment to the welfare of children will make him an inspiring leader for the organisation. I look forward to working with him."
