Midlands adoption & fostering charity ready for action!
Issued: 13 November 03
This press release applies to England
Ludlow MP Matthew Green today officially opened the new offices of the Midlands branch of the British Association for Adoption & Fostering (BAAF), the UK's leading adoption and fostering charity.
The charity's Midlands branch provides a range of services to professionals and the public in the Midlands area including a dedicated adoption & fostering helpline, books for children, parents and childcare workers and specialist training and workshops for foster carers, adoptive parents and people who work with children in care, including social work, medical, legal and health professionals.
The Birmigham-based office is also home to a special national project for disabled children who cannot live with their birth family.
Ludlow MP Matthew Green, who is also Vice-Chair for the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Children, said:
"I am delighted to officially open BAAF's new offices in the Midlands. Every child deserves to be part of a loving family and BAAF works hard to give children separated from their birth family that opportunity."
Erica Amende, BAAF's Regional Director for the Midlands and North of England, said:
"We are delighted to have moved into our new offices which are an excellent base for us. We have a small, dedicated team of staff and are looking forward to continuing working in partnership with the public and professionals in the Midlands area."
Felicity Collier, BAAF's chief executive, said:
"We're currently facing a shortage of adopters and foster carers in the Midlands and desperately need more people to come forward. We look forward to working with Social Services departments in the Midlands to get the message out and encourage more people to consider adopting or fostering a child."
Press are invited to attend the opening at 11.30am on Friday 14 November at BAAF's new offices in Dolphin House, 54 Coventry Road, Birmingham B10 0RX.
