Axle grease and adoption make a Good(wood) partner

Issued: 02 September 2008

Racing cars and retro fashion is coming together to help raise vital funds to improve the lives of some of the UK’s most vulnerable children.
On 19th September the Goodwood Revival kicks off, and this year the British Association for Adoption & Fostering (BAAF) has been chosen as its beneficiary charity. Over 100 BAAF volunteers, all dressed in period costume, will be working round the clock to collect donations. They hope to raise in the region of £30,000 to help the charity with its essential work.

The Goodwood Revival is the only racing event of its kind to be staged in the romantic time capsule of the fifties and sixties. As well as recreating the golden era of motor sport, the Revival offers wheel-to-wheel racing around a classic circuit, untouched by the modern world.
Actress Nimmy March, who grew up on the Goodwood Estate and is an adopted person herself, said: “I was fortunate enough to be adopted into an accepting and loving family very early in life. Sadly there are thousands of other children who are currently waiting for their ‘forever family’. Many have already been waiting far too long. I hope that everyone at the Goodwood Revival will give generously to BAAF to enable them to continue their work of finding families and improving the lives of children in care.”
