Life story work - what it is and what it means

This new addition to BAAF's ever popular children's guide series explains to children who may be embarking on life story work or already engaged in it, what it actually is. It is designed for an adult to read to a child or with a child and delivers the powerful message that every child's life story is important.

The guide explores the importance of life stories in general, including the lives of several famous people in history and contemporary life, and draws a parallel between these and the importance of the child's own life story. It describes the actual process of undertaking life story work, including explaining who can help with this and how, when to do it, what can go into a life story book and who owns this work. It also shows how life story work can be done using imaginative techniques and different media, and that it can be fun!

This colourful, user-friendly and brightly illustrated booklet is designed to appeal to children and hold their attention. It follows a simple question and answer format and prompts children to start thinking about themselves and their lives.
