Read our Advertising policy

BAAF welcomes the opportunity to publicise information for its members and other interested parties. Advertising will be sought which reflects the broader interests of the adoption, fostering and child care communities. However, it will not always be possible to respond positively to requests. This policy explains how decisions will be made.

The scope of this policy is intended to include both the soliciting and acceptance of all forms of advertising, including inserts in mailings and delegate packs, adverts in printed publications and email bulletins, and promotion on websites. Advertising is provided at a charge to the client, with discounts offered to members of BAAF. These charges will be published.

  1. Endorsement – acceptance of advertisements does not imply endorsement.

  2. Quality control – acceptance of advertising will be subject to a sample being supplied to check for quality of content and design.

  3. Client – where space becomes limited, priority will be given to not for profit organisations over commercial organisations.

  4. Inclusion – values expressed in the content of any material must not directly conflict with BAAF’s core values, as expressed in Lives Changed for Good – A new strategy for BAAF 2008–2011 (www.baaf.org.uk/about/strategy/index.shtml). BAAF reserves the right to decline to promote products, including those produced by member agencies, which could have a negative commercial impact on a BAAF product being promoted at the same time. A maximum level of advertising will be set for each source (e.g. membership mailings, website or journal). Intrusive advertising will be avoided.

The final decision to accept advertising rests with BAAF. In practice, this will usually be a recommendation from the Director of Marketing & Communications to the Chief Executive for all advertising except for printed publications, where the recommendation will come from the Director of Publications.

This policy will be available on www.baaf.org.uk and reviewed on a regular basis.

Harvey Gallagher
Director of Marketing & Communications
