Support for family and friends carers

Home > About us > Campaigns > Support for family and friends carers

BAAF is a member of the Kinship Care Alliance, an informal network of 20 organisations and academics that work together to lobby for proper support for family and friends care arrangements.

The focus of the Kinship Care Alliance’s campaigning is to press the case to MPs and Ministers for family and friends carers to have an entitlement to a national financial allowance. As the government have acknowledged, these carers are often living in impoverished circumstances, making major sacrifices to raise children who are may be very vulnerable.

The Family Rights Group have posted a petition on the 10 Downing Street website to urge the Prime Minister to provide family and friends carers with a national financial support system. Please visit http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/kinshipallowance/ and sign the petition to show your support.
