Fostering Campaign 2004 - Party Conference fringe events

Home > About us > Campaigns > Fostering campaign 2004 > Party Conference fringe events

BAAF held a fringe event at the Liberal Democrat Party Conference, is holding a joint fringe event with the Fostering Network at the Labour Party Conferences, and has a stand at the Labour Party event.

The overall theme for both the fringe events is "Foster care in crisis: Are the nation’s foster parents under skilled, unsupported and undervalued?".

The Liberal Democrats BAAF Fringe event was n Wednesday 22 September. The theme was “Skills Protect – changing foster care”. Speakers were Annette Brooke MP, Kevin Williams (Chief Exec of TACT) and BAAF's Chief Executive Felicity Collier. They will be discussing why the status of foster care must change.

The Labour Party event is a joint event between BAAF and The Fostering Network. The theme for that one is “Foundations of our future – a professional foster care workforce”.

That will be held at 5.30pm, Wednesday 29 September in the Cavendish Room, Kings Hotel, 139 Kings Hotel Brighton. Speakers will include Felicity Collier, speakers from the Fostering Network and Margaret Hodge - Minister of State for Children.

At the Labour Party event, BAAF will also have a stall (Stand 91, Brighton Conference Centre) from Sunday 26 to Thursday 30 September.

If you can make it to our stand or fringe event at the Labour Conference, we'd be delighted to see you.

You can read more about our thoughts on the strategic positioning of foster care in our Foster Care Position Statement.
